Somerset, NJ - After a stellar third place finish at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Swimming & Diving Championships, the Wagner swimming team has earned two places on the All-NEC First Team while nabbing nine spots on the All-NEC Second Team. Sophomore Melanie Rodriguez-Lapman (Chesire, CT/Chesire) and freshman Bethny Brown (Enfield, CT/Ennco Fermi) headline a group of six Seahawks all-NEC honorees. Rodriguez-Lapman earned first team honors for her performance in the 200 breast, touching in with a time of 2:29.17, while Brown captured first-team accolades for her win in the 100 breast with a time of 1:08.52. The pair, who were the only two non-CCSU athletes to win gold, also received second-team honors, with Brown finishing second in the 200 breast (2:30.91) and Rodriguez-Lapman serving as the runner-up in the 400 IM (4:35.26). Junior Alexandra Tomlinson (Telford, PA/Souderton), senior Jess Radka (Reading, PA/Holy Name), sophomore Jessica Hart (Summerfield, NC/Northwest) and senior Halley Allen (Bryan, TX/Bryan) received all-NEC second team honors. Tomlinson placed second in the 200 (1:56.36), 500 (5:01.46) and 1650 free (17:14.51), while Hart and Radka finished second in the 100 and 200 fly, respectively, with times of 57.56 and 2:05.33. Allen recorded a pair of second place finishes in the 100 back (59.68) and 50 free (24.52). |
