Brown Sets Record in 100 Breaststroke - Seahawks Remain in Second



Freshman Bethny Brown is now the All-Time leader in the 100 breaststroke

New Haven, CT - Freshman Bethny Brown (Enfield, CT/Enco Fermi High) posted the Seahawks first event win at the 2007-2008 Northeast Conference Swimming Championships while the Seahawks hold a half point edge over Saint Francis (PA) for second place. Brown's 1:08.52 time in the 100 breaststroke is a new Wagner All-Time record, breaking Megan Grarret's 2002 time of 1:08.65.

In the 400 IM, sophomore Melanie Rodriguez-Lapman (Chesire, CT/Chesire) captured one of a string of second place finishes for the Seahawks, finishing in 4:35.26. sophomore Jessica Hart (Summerfield, NC/Northwest) took second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.56 while junior Alexandra Tomlinson (Telford PA/Souderton) took second place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.36.

To finish out the second day of competition, senior Halley Allen (Bryan, TX/Bryan) finished second in the 100 backstroke at 59.68 while the 800 freestyle relay team placed second in 7:50.98.

The Seahawks return to the pool one final time Saturday, February 16th for the last day of the NEC Championships.
