Edison, N.J. - Five members of the Wagner College men's lacrosse squad were named to the 2008 MACC Men's Lacrosse All-Academic team, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has announced.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.

The five Seahawks, who were among the 49 men's lacrosse players recognized by the MAAC, were senior defenseman Scott Leung (Staten Island, NY/ Tottenville), junior midfielder Joseph Kross (Colonie, NY/Colonie Central), junior midfielder Brian Poissant (Manlius, NY/ Fayetteville-Manlius) and junior attackman Michael Schaeffer (Weston, CT/ Weston), and sophomore midfielder Chris Ridente (Cranford, NJ/ Cranford).

"I am very proud of these individuals for the efforts they have put forth in the classroom, as well as on the field," said Wagner College head men's lacrosse coach Jason Rife. "These student-athletes serve as fine examples to their teammates and truly represent what our program is all about."
