Final Stats

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College Men's lacrosse team turned in a stellar defensive effort vs. Siena but the Seahawks struggled to generate a consistent offensive attack of their own in dropping a 10-1 decision to Siena..

With the victory, the Saints improved to 7-4, 1-2 in the MAAC, while Wagner fell to 0-9, 0-3 in league play.

Wagner was out-shot by just a 34-30 count but of the Seahawks' 30 shots, only 10 were on goal as the Saints played a stifling brand of defense.

Siena built a 7-0 halftime lead and increased the advantage to 10-0 before Wagner got on the board with 18 seconds left in the game on a blast by junior midfielder Brian Poissant (Manlius, NY/ Fayetteville-Manlius) off an assist from junior midfielder Jeff Policicchio (Novi. MI/ Novi). For Poissant, it was his fourth goal of the season and it was Policicchio's fifth assist of the year and his team-leading 17th point.

Attackman Ryan Duggan paced Siena's balanced attack with three goals while seven other Saints tallied one goal apiece. Siena held a 16-10 edge in ground balls and won 9-of-14 face-offs. Both team's man-down units were sharp as Siena was 0-3 in extra-man opportunities while Wagner was 1-7.

Junior goalie Brandon Waszak (Frederick, MD/ Linganore) recorded 12 saves for the Seahawks, several of which were of the spectacular variety. Three different Siena goalies combined for 10 saves. Starting goalie, Brent Herbst, notched four saves while playing the first half and was credited with the win.

Wagner is next in action on Sun., April 12 when the Seahawks host MAAC foe Canisius in a 1:00 pm faceoff.
