Junior Chris Drechsel and sophomore Damian Csakai lead the Green & White in the classroom

May 8, 2008

Staten Island, NY - Junior Chris Drechsel (Cranford, NJ / Cranford) and sophomore Damian Csakai (Freehold, NJ / Freehold) were named to the ESPN The Magazine / College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American Team for District I as released by the organization earlier today. Both players were selected as second team All-District picks.

Drechsel, who has a 3.60 GPA in math, is the Seahawks captain on and off the field while starting all 44 games this year. A second-year starter as a catcher he has garnered All-NEC Second Team nods in each of his two years on Grymes Hill.

Csakai, who is double-majoring in computer science & math, has a team-best 3.80 GPA. This speedy centerfielder has played in every inning of every game and is second in the conference with 21 stolen bases and has scored a team-best 30 runs.

Wagner (22-22; 13-7 NEC) heads to Central Connecticut State (20-19; 14-6 NEC) for a crucial four-game series this weekend. First pitch for Friday's nine-inning game is slated for 7 pm.
