Boston, MA - The men's cross country team took on the best of the Northeast in the New England Regional Cross Country Championship and took 27th place out of 34 teams. The Seahawks lost to the 2007 NEC Champions Quinnipiac by a mere 40 points while coming out ahead of CCSU and Sacred Heart.

The Seahawks followed on the heels of top runner Mouhamed Halwani (Staten Island, NY/Xaverian) as he finished the 10K course at 32:24.05. Right behind Halwani was the 2007 NEC Rookie of the Year Derek Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) clocking in at 32:38.85. Next to cross the finish line for the Seahawks was junior Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) coming in at 33:33.25 while fellow juniors James Johnston (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) and Allen Koehler (Okeana, OH/William Henry Harrison) crossed the tape at 33:57.15 and 34.38.40 respectively.

"I am extremely proud at how well the boys ran this weekend," commented head coach Joe Stasi. "From start to finish, I am very proud of how hard this group worked throughout the season."

Senior Meghan Robbins (Waymart, PA/Western Wayne) led the women's side of things with a time of 23:47.55 in the 6K course. Following Robins was junior Ashley Mallen (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) at 25:01.00 as sophomore Jenna Nalglieri (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) and junior Ryan Rogers (Islip, NY/Islip) came in at 25:48.35 and 26:45.35. The women ran only four runners in the competition and did not factor in the team scoring.

The last race of the year for the Seahawks comes on November 17th at the ECAC/1C4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY.
