Somerset, NJ - Freshman Coleman Edmond (Kingston, NY/Harmony Prep MI) has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Track & Field Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office.

Edmond's award comes off a 10.70 performance in the 100m dash at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational. His time was good enough for a fourth place finish in the qualifying round, but the freshman did not compete in the finals due to tightness in his hamstring. Aside from topping all NEC freshmen for the week, Edmond's time has punched his ticket to the IC4A Championships in May. His IC4A-qualifying time stands as the best produced by any NEC sprinter during the first two weeks of the 2008 outdoor season.

Edmond and the rest of the Seahawks will stay put in Staten Island this weekend as they will host the Wagner Invitational on Saturday, March 23rd.
