Seahawk Track & Field Enjoy Three Days at Costal Carolina

Senior Jocelyn Ford ran a 58.84 in the 400m

March 24, 2008

Conway, SC - Senior Jocelyn Ford (Neptune, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) and the women's 4x400 team came close to breaking all-time records as the Wagner track & field team competed at the Costal Carolina Shamrock Invitational.

Ford took 21st place in the 400m with a time of 58.84, falling just .27 seconds short of the record posted by Crystal Cudjoe in 1994. Ford also was part of the 4x400m team along with twin sister Jessica Ford (Neptune, NJ/Red Bank Catholic), Jessica Balling (Seaford, NY/Macarthur) and Samantha Snukis (St. Clair, PA/Nativity BVM) that came .64 seconds short of breaking the record that was also set in 1994.

Other outstanding performances by the women's team include junior Alaina Alfano's (Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) sixth place finish in the long jump, leaping 5.53m, while the women's distance medley team crossed the finish line at 12:24.47, good for a sixth place finish.

On the men's side of things, junior Allen Koehler (Okeana, OH/William Henry Harrison) legged out a fifth place finish in the 10,000m, clocking in at 34:45.11 as the men's distance medley team brought home a fifth place finish with a time of 10:44.50.

Freshman Coleman Edmond (Kingston, NY/Harmony Prep MI) sped his way to a 10.70 fourth place finish in the 100m dash, qualifying him for the finals, but due to tightness in his hamstring, he did not compete in the final race.

The Seahawks return to their own track Saturday, March 29th as they host the first of two home meets in the Wagner Invitational.
